What children will practise

Convert both ways between fractions, decimals and percentages, including harder cases such as 1/8 = 0.125, 0.05 = 5% and percentages above 100.

What's in the worksheet

6 questions, multiple choice with 3 options - 3/5 as a decimal (0.6) - 40% as a fraction in simplest form (2/5) - 1/8 as a decimal (0.125) - 0.05 as a percentage (5%) - What 125% is worth (1.25)

How to use it in class

Use as a warm-up before percentage word problems; about 5 minutes. - Play solo, then put the most-missed question on screen - Teach the move-two-places rule (decimal to percentage moves right) with a place-value chart - If many miss Q4, show that 1/8 is half of 1/4 = 0.25, so 0.125 - Play it linked to the class to record results in the mark book.

Common sticking points

- Q5: 0.05 is often given as 50% because children see the 5 and add a zero - Q1: 0.35 from writing the 3 and 5 side by side - Q3: stopping at 4/10, which is not simplest form - Q6: 125% read as 12.5 by moving the point the wrong way
