What children will practise

Describe 3D shapes (cylinder, pyramid, cube) as in ค 2.2 ป.6/3, find cuboid volumes, convert cubic metres to litres, and work back from volume to height.

What's in the worksheet

6 questions, multiple choice with 3 options - Flat faces on a cylinder (2) - Faces on a square-based pyramid (5) - Which solid has six identical faces (cube) - Litres in 1 cubic metre (1000) - A box of volume 60, 3 wide and 4 long: how tall (5)

How to use it in class

Use in a lesson on 3D shapes with real objects; about 5-6 minutes. - Play in teams and hand out boxes, cans and paper pyramids for counting faces - For Q5, show a picture of a 1 cubic metre water tank to make 1000 litres concrete - If many miss Q2, have children set the pyramid on the desk and count the base too - Play it linked to the class to record results in the mark book.

Common sticking points

- Q2: counting only the 4 side faces and forgetting the base - Q1: 3 from counting the curved surface as a face - Q5: 100 from thinking 1 m = 100 cm and multiplying by 100 once - Q6: stopping at 12 (3 × 4), or choosing 6
