How to use it in class

Use as a word-problem game before a test; about 6-8 minutes. - Play in teams and have them underline what the question asks before working - For Q1, split 15% into 10% + 5% of 800 (80 + 40) - If many miss Q3, draw a 5-part bar and shade 2 parts for the first person - Play it linked to the class to record results in the mark book.

Common sticking points

- Q3: halving 450 to 225, which is offered, or giving the second share, 270 - Q1: stopping at the 120-baht discount, or getting 15% wrong and choosing 720 - Q5: dividing by 3 although there are 4 values - Q6: a slip dividing 285 by 3 gives 85 or 105
