Curriculum indicators practised
Before you begin
Name five 3D shapes and link each one to an everyday object with a similar shape.
5 pairs, 20 points - Draw lines to match each shape to an object: sphere-ball, cube-gift box, cuboid-book, cylinder-can, cone-party hat - Every shape is labelled with its Thai name - A separate answer key is included
Use in the first lesson on 3D shapes. Allow about 5-10 minutes. - After matching, send children to find a classroom object for each shape and write its name beside the picture - Pass round a real can and book and ask which faces are flat and which are curved
- Confusing the cube and the cuboid, since both the gift box and the book have square corners - Using flat-shape names, calling a sphere a circle or a cylinder a rectangle - Joining each item to the one directly opposite without looking at the shape
