Before you begin
Match ten questions about age and quantity to the right answer card, noticing How old, How many and What number, and whether the answer uses I, He or She.
10 items, 20 points - Answer cards A-J, e.g. I am seven years old., He is ten years old., I have four crayons., There are eight balls. and It is number three. - Ten questions, e.g. How old is Tom?, How many crayons do you have?, How many stars are there? and What number is this? - The cards are illustrated: four crayons, eight balls, seven stars, a 6 and a 3 - A Let's reflect strip and a separate key with the letters ticked
Use after the read-and-circle dialogue sheet, once children can tell the question types apart. Allow about 10-15 minutes. - Before matching, have children sort cards A-J into three groups: age, how many and which number - After marking, hand out the answer cards; the teacher reads a question and the child with the matching card stands up and reads it
- Items 2 and 6 (How old is Tom? / How old is May?) need the He and She cards, but children may pick an I am... card - Items 1 and 10 both ask How old are you? with no age clue, so children may swap A and B, which the key would mark wrong - Items 4 and 7 (What number is this?) may be matched to a counting card instead of It is number...
