Teaching guide

What children will practise

Match ten classroom objects to their names, from small items such as eraser, glue, crayon and marker to furniture such as desk, chair and board.

What's in the worksheet

10 items, 20 points - Word bank A-J: eraser, computer, marker, chair, board, glue, book, desk, clock and crayon - Pictures: a chalkboard, a book, a chair, a clock, a computer, a crayon, a school desk, an eraser, a glue bottle and a marker - All ten words are used exactly once, with no extra distractors - A separate answer key is included

How to use it in class

Use as the first sheet of the classroom objects unit. Allow about 10 minutes. - Warm up with Touch your desk! / Touch the board!, sending children to touch the real objects - After marking, have children label real items around the room (clock, computer), then move on to the missing-letters sheet for this topic

Common sticking points

- Mixing up desk and chair, since items 3 and 7 are both metal-legged furniture - Swapping crayon and marker in items 6 and 10, both colouring tools - Item 1: some children know it as blackboard and look for that word in the bank
