Before you begin
Choose have got or has got to agree with the subject (I, We, They, He, She, It), looking at the subject rather than at how many things are owned.
10 questions, 20 points - Complete a sentence under each picture by choosing have or has - Five take have: I ... a ball, We ... crayons, They ... books, We ... paintbrushes, They ... rulers - Five take has: She ... a cat, He ... a kite, It ... wheels, He ... a bike, She ... flowers - A separate answer key is included
Use as the first practice after teaching I have got... and She has got.... Allow about 10 minutes. - Before starting, sort the six subjects on the board into a have group and a has group and leave it up while children work - After marking, each child holds up one object and says I have got a pencil., then a partner reports She has got a pencil.
- Items 6 and 9, It ... wheels and She ... flowers, pair a has subject with a plural object, so children who look at the object choose have - I takes have, but some children treat it like He and She and choose has - The order of have and has changes from item to item, so a child who always ticks the top option will get some wrong - In speech children often drop got altogether or say She have got
