Teaching guide

What children will practise

Write hobby words and phrases in full from ten pictures, including cook and play guitar, then label what five children are doing in a park scene.

What's in the worksheet

15 answers, 20 points - Part A: write the word under 10 pictures (10 points): read, draw, sing, dance, swim, ride a bike, play football, cook, paint and play guitar - Part B: a park scene with arrows pointing at five children; write what each is doing (10 points): read, draw, swim, ride a bike and play football - No word bank; instructions are in Thai - A separate key fills in every answer

How to use it in class

Use as the closing sheet of a hobbies unit, after the matching and missing-letter sheets. Allow about 15-20 minutes. - Turn Part B into a speaking task: children describe the park scene with He is reading. / She is drawing. to practise -ing - cook and play guitar do not appear on the other sheets in this set, so pre-teach them first

Common sticking points

- Item 10: writing only guitar without play, or play the guitar, which the teacher must decide how to mark - Swapping draw (item 2) and paint (item 9), not seeing that pencils and a brush tell them apart - Item 6: writing cycle, or dropping the a in ride a bike - In Part B, writing -ing forms such as reading when the key uses the base verb
