Put the growth stages of a plant in order, from seed to fruit, by noticing what changes in each picture.
10 pictures, 10 points - Write 1-10 under each picture in growth order; the pictures are jumbled - Order in the key: seed (picture 2), germinating seed with a root (6), sprout (3), seedling (5), young plant (7), flower bud (8), leafy plant (1), open flower (9), flower with a small green fruit (10) and a ripe red tomato (4) - The answer key writes the stage number in red under every picture
Use after the class has sown beans or tomato seeds and watched them for several days. Allow about 15 minutes. - Let children cut the pictures out and arrange them on the desk before writing the numbers - After marking, have children retell the plant's growth aloud in order using first, next and finally
- Writing the box number instead of the growth stage, because each box already carries a printed 1-10 - Swapping pictures 1 and 7, which show very similar leafy plants - Putting the red tomato before the flower, not knowing that fruit develops from the flower
