Match eight vehicle pictures to words A-H, then choose the first letter of car, bus, train and boat from pictures.

How to use it in class

Use as the first sheet of the transport unit. Allow about 10 minutes. - Before starting, make vehicle sounds such as a horn or a train whistle and have children name the vehicle in English and find it in the word bank - After marking, ask How do you go to school? and have children answer By bus. / By car., then move on to the transport spelling sheet

Common sticking points

- Swapping item 2 (car) and item 5 (taxi), as both are saloon cars; the TAXI sign on the roof is the clue - Swapping item 3 (bicycle) and item 7 (motorcycle): both have two wheels and both words end in cycle - Part B item 4 boat: choosing c or m, unsure about b after already using it for bus
