What children will practise

Sort odd and even numbers (indicator ค 1.1 ป.2/1), notice that even plus odd gives odd, compare numbers with 30, and work out products in the 2 and 5 times tables to compare with 20.

What's in the worksheet

4 sorting questions with 2 boxes each - 24 and 50 are even; 37 and 63 are odd - 2 + 4 and 5 + 5 give even answers; 3 + 4 and 6 + 7 give odd answers - 18 and 29 are less than 30; 45 and 72 are more - 2 × 5 and 2 × 8 are less than 20; 5 × 6 and 5 × 9 are more

How to use it in class

Use after teaching odd and even, 6-8 minutes. Team mode suits it: teams discuss before dragging. - For sums, work out the answer first, then look at the ones digit. Then use 5 + 5 to notice that odd plus odd gives even - For products, allow counting up in fives on paper - Play it linked to the class to record results in the mark book

Common sticking points

- Putting 5 + 5 under odd because 5 is odd. Work out the sum, 10, first - Judging 63 as even because of the 6. Cover the tens digit and look only at the ones - Guessing 2 × 8 or 5 × 6 from the digits shown when the 5 times table is not secure. Count up in fives
