Game teaching guide

What children will practise

The circulatory system: the four-chambered heart, arteries versus veins, what blood does, the pulse, and how exercise affects the heart. This is health-education content matching indicator พ 1.1 ป.6/1 (the importance of the reproductive, circulatory and respiratory systems to health and growth), a Grade 6 topic.

What's in the worksheet

6 questions, multiple choice with three options each - The human heart has 4 chambers - Arteries carry blood away from the heart; veins carry it back - Blood carries oxygen and nutrients - A pulse tells you the heart rate; exercise makes the heart stronger

How to use it in class

Play it after children take their pulse before and after a minute of star jumps, about 5-6 minutes, solo. After question 5, have them count their pulse for fifteen seconds again. For questions 2 and 3, give the hook แดง ออก ดำ เข้า (arteries out, veins in) and explain that diagram colours are just for telling them apart. You can link it to a class and record it in the gradebook.

Common sticking points

- Questions 2 and 3: swapping arteries and veins, thinking venous blood is actually dark. Explain that blood in veins is dark red, just lower in oxygen. - Question 6: choosing the heart gets tired and wears out, from feeling it pound when running. Compare it with an arm muscle that gets stronger with training. - Question 1: choosing 2 chambers from cartoon hearts with two halves. - Question 3: the in-game explanation calls venous blood used blood. Explain that it means blood that has already given oxygen to the body, so it carries less oxygen and more waste; it is not worn-out blood.
