Sample questions

A few real prompts from the game to help you choose an activity for your class.

    • a barometer
    Read the explanation

    A thermometer measures temperature.

What children will practise

Weather: how wind forms, instruments for temperature and humidity, Thailand's seasons, what a tropical cyclone is like, and why forecasts are useful. Question 4 matches indicator ว 3.2 ป.6/5 (how monsoons create Thailand's seasons), a Grade 6 topic, and the wind item links to ว 3.2 ป.6/4 (land and sea breezes and monsoons).

What's in the worksheet

6 questions, multiple choice with three options each - Wind forms when cool air flows in to replace warm air - A thermometer measures temperature; a hygrometer measures humidity - Thailand has 3 seasons - A tropical cyclone is wind spiralling around a centre with heavy rain

How to use it in class

Pair it with the Thai Meteorological Department's forecast for the day, about 5-6 minutes, solo or in pairs. For question 1, show moving air with incense smoke over a cup of hot water. Questions 2 and 3 use similar-sounding instrument names, so write each name and what it measures on the board before playing. You can link it to a class and record it in the gradebook.

Common sticking points

- Question 3 (choosing thermometer) or question 2 (choosing hygrometer): the names sound alike and are new. Give the hook: hygro is about moisture, thermo about heat. - Question 1: choosing trees waving their branches make wind, a belief some younger children still hold. Ask why there is wind at sea with no trees. - Question 4: choosing 4 seasons from spring and autumn in foreign cartoons. - Question 4: a child from the South may choose 2 seasons, since the southern region is often described as having only hot and rainy seasons. That is reasonable; hear it out, then explain that the game asks about the country as a whole, which has 3.
