What children will practise

Count up and down in tens, add and subtract whole tens, and know that ten tens make one hundred, linked to indicator ค 1.1 ป.1/1 on numbers up to 100.

What's in the worksheet

6 questions, multiple choice with 3 options each - 10 + 10 = 20, 20 + 10 = 30 (21 is a distractor) - 30 + 10 = 40 (31 is a distractor) - 50 - 10 = 40 (49 is a distractor) - Counting in tens from 10 to 50 you say 5 numbers - 100 is ten tens

How to use it in class

Use once children know numbers to 20, to extend towards 100. About 5 minutes. - Before playing, count bundles of ten sticks together: ten, twenty, thirty - Play as a class; for question 5, count on fingers while saying ten, twenty, thirty, forty, fifty - If many choose 21, 31 or 49, point out that adding or taking ten changes only the tens digit - Play it linked to a class and the scores go into the class gradebook.

Common sticking points

- In questions 2 and 3, choosing 21 and 31 by adding one instead of ten; the distractors target this directly - In question 4, choosing 49 by taking one instead of ten - In question 5, choosing 4 by counting the jumps instead of the numbers said
