What children will practise

Find doubles and halves, such as double 25 and half of 100, as a base for multiplying and dividing by 2 (indicator ค 1.1 ป.2/5).

What's in the worksheet

6 multiple-choice questions alternating doubles and halves - What is double 7? 14 - What is half of 14? 7 - Double 12 is 24 - Double 25 is 50 - Half of 100 is 50

How to use it in class

Use once the 2 times table has started, about 6 minutes. In team mode, give each team counters or coins to split into two piles. - Point out that Q1 and Q2 undo each other: double 7 is 14, and half of 14 is 7 again - If many miss double 25, use two 25-satang coins, or think 20 + 20 and 5 + 5 - Play it linked to the class to record results in the mark book

Common sticking points

- Mixing up double and half, e.g. doubling when asked for half of 16. Have pupils read each question aloud before answering - Choosing 17 for double 7, by adding 10 or writing 7 next to 1. Use fingers on both hands - Choosing 25 for half of 100, confusing it with a quarter. Split ten tens rods into two piles
