Mathematics Measurement and Geometry worksheets on Thai Money: Coins and Banknotes for Grades 1–3 (P.1–P.3), difficulty 2/5. PDF, downloadable as soon as pay…
Before you begin
Know the value of Thai coins and notes (1, 2, 5, 10, 20, 50 and 100 baht) and total sets of play money up to 100 baht.
10 questions, 20 points (plus an unscored example, 10 + 5 = 15 baht) - Questions 1-3 are coins only, e.g. five 1-baht coins = 5 baht and 10 + 5 + 2 = 17 baht - Questions 4-10 mix notes and coins, e.g. 50 + 10 + 10 + 5 = 75 baht - Questions 6, 9 and 10 all make 100 baht in different ways (one 100 note, five 20 notes, 50 + 20 + 20 + 10) - A separate answer key is included
Use once children have handled play money and know each coin's value. Allow about 15 minutes. - Teach counting on from the largest note, e.g. question 8 as 50, 60, 70, 75 - Follow up with a classroom shop where children pay 100 baht in several different ways, as in questions 6, 9 and 10
- Counting the number of coins or notes rather than their value, e.g. 5 baht instead of 100 for question 9 - Confusing the 2-baht and 10-baht coins, which are both drawn with a gold rim - Skipping an item when values are mixed, e.g. missing the 10-baht coin in question 10 and getting 90
