Torch energy, rock formation, digestion

An AR classroom game for Grade 6. Learners can aim with their hands at the camera or play by tapping the screen.

This set has 4 rounds in an interactive ordering activity.

Sample questions

A few real prompts from the game to help you choose an activity for your class.

  1. Put the steps of inheritance in order.

    • the child passes it on in turn
    • the child shows the trait
    • the parents carry the genes
    • they pass to the child
    Read the explanation

Traits pass from one generation to the next through genes.

  2. Put the energy changes in a torch in order.

    • chemical energy in the battery
    • electrical energy in the wires
    • light energy at the bulb
    • the light shines out
    Read the explanation

Energy changes form step by step.

  3. Put the formation of sedimentary rock in order.

    • it compacts into rock
    • it settles in layers
    • rock weathers into sediment
    • the sediment is carried away
    Read the explanation

Sediment is carried along, settles in layers, and is compacted into rock.

What children will practise

Orders four processes: inheritance across generations, energy changes in a torch, the formation of sedimentary rock, and the work of the digestive system. Question 3 matches indicator ว 3.2 ป.6/1 (how igneous, sedimentary and metamorphic rocks form), and question 4 links to ว 1.2 ป.6/4 (digestion and absorption).

What's in the worksheet

4 questions, an ordering game with four steps each - parents carry the genes > they pass to the child > the child shows the trait > the child passes it on - chemical energy in the battery > electrical energy in the wires > light energy at the bulb > the light shines out - rock weathers into sediment > sediment is carried away > settles in layers > compacts into rock - chewed with saliva > broken down by stomach acid > absorbed in the small intestine > waste removed in the large intestine

How to use it in class

A process review before end-of-year tests, about 5 minutes in teams. For question 3, shake soil, sand, gravel and water in a clear bottle and let it settle into layers. For question 4, have children point to each organ on their own body in order. The Thai title does not mention inheritance or digestion, so you may want to tell children first. You can link it to a class and record it in the gradebook.

Common sticking points

- Question 3: swapping sediment is carried away and settles in layers, unable to picture transport. Demonstrate with the sediment bottle. - Question 1: swapping the child shows the trait and passes it on, thinking a trait must show before it can pass on; in reality hidden traits pass on too. Say that the game fixes this order. - Question 2: putting the light shines out before light energy at the bulb, as the two steps are nearly the same.
