The four pets children meet most often.
Farm animals that come up often in the textbook.
English writes animal sounds differently from Thai - try saying them aloud.
Before you play
Read and say nine everyday animal names (cat, dog, bird, fish, cow, pig, duck, chicken, lion) and link them to meanings, sounds and homes, in line with indicator ต 1.1 ป.2/2 on reading aloud and spelling simple words.
4 questions, a matching game with 4 pairs each - Match cat to แมว and fish to ปลา - Farm animals: pig to หมู, chicken to ไก่ - Animal sounds: duck to quack, cow to moo - Homes: bird to tree, lion to zoo
A good 5-minute warm-up at the start of an animals lesson. Play once together on the projector, then a second round in teams. - For the sounds question, have the class make the Thai animal sounds first, then compare them with meow and woof - If many miss the homes question, ask Where does a fish live? and let the class answer together - Play it linked to your class so scores go into the gradebook
- In the sounds question, swapping cat and dog because Thai children know the Thai sounds better than meow and woof. Read the English words aloud first - In the homes question, hesitating between cow and lion, as farm and zoo are new words. Point out that the lions children can actually see live in a zoo - Matching chicken to เป็ด, since chicken and duck are both birds
