What children will practise

Use How many to ask about numbers, give amounts with number words (three, twenty, thirty), and choose is or are after There to match the number (indicator ต 1.1 ป.2/2).

What's in the worksheet

6 questions, multiple choice with 3 options - How ___ books do you have? Answer: many - There ___ two cats. Answer: are; There ___ one dog. Answer: is - ten + ten = ? Answer: twenty - What is 30 in English? Answer: thirty

How to use it in class

Use as practice after counting to 30, about 5 minutes, in teams. Count real objects on your desk for the There is/are items. - For 30, have the class alternate thirteen and thirty, stressing thir-TEEN vs THIR-ty - If How many goes badly, ask children for real: How many pencils do you have? - Play it linked to your class to record scores in the gradebook

Common sticking points

- 30 (Q6): choosing thirteen, which sounds like thirty. Practise hearing the stress in the pair - ten + ten (Q5): choosing twelve because twelve and twenty both start with tw - I have ___ apples (Q2): choosing threes because apples has an s. Show that the s goes on the thing, not the number
