What children will practise

Use on, in, under, next to and above to say where things are, and in with a city (I live in Bangkok), understanding position phrases (indicator ต 1.1 ป.3/3).

What's in the worksheet

6 questions, multiple choice; some carry a hint - The cat is ___ the chair. (beneath it) Answer: under - The bag is ___ the door. (beside it) Answer: next to - The lamp is ___ the bed. (over it) Answer: above - I live ___ Bangkok. Answer: in

How to use it in class

Use with real objects, about 5 minutes, solo. During the game, set up each position for real before children answer. - Q2 has no hint; put a pen in a box before this question - Afterwards, play Where is my pencil?: hide an object and have children say where it is - Play it linked to your class so scores go into the gradebook

Common sticking points

- The lamp is ___ the bed (Q5): above is new; children may guess in - The pen is ___ the box (Q2): choosing on or under, which can be correct as no position is given - The bag is ___ the door (Q4): choosing behind or in front of, as all three are long and new
