What children will practise

Order events in a past story (woke up late, missed the bus), build a past sentence and Did you eat lunch?, and order the stages of telling a story, so children can tell their own experiences (indicator ต 1.2 ป.4/4).

What's in the worksheet

4 questions, putting items in order - I woke up late. > I ran to the bus stop. > I missed the bus. > I walked to school. - She / watched / a film / last night - Did / you / eat / lunch? - Say when it happened > tell what happened > say how you felt > round off the ending

How to use it in class

Use before writing a short story called A bad morning, about 6 minutes, in teams. Q1 has cause and effect; ask why missed the bus must come before walked. - Use Q4 as the outline for the children's own writing - After Q3, ask for real: Did you eat lunch? and elicit Yes, I did. - Play it linked to your class so scores go into the gradebook

Common sticking points

- ran to the bus stop and missed the bus (Q1) get swapped when missed is not understood - Did / you / eat / lunch? (Q3): hesitation because eat is not past, though the prompt says past question - Q4: swapping say how you felt and round off the ending, as feelings can come at the end; the game's order is only one option
