Game teaching guide

What children will practise

Practise putting adjectives before a noun in the right order (opinion, size, age, colour, with numbers first) so pupils can describe things when they talk or write to each other (ต 1.2 ป.5/1), and see that an adjective can stand alone after is.

What's in the worksheet

6 multiple-choice questions, 3 options each - a big red ball / a red big ball / a ball red big - an old brown table versus a brown old table - two big cats versus big two cats - Where does an adjective go: in front of the noun, after it, or at the end of the sentence - The bag is ___. (answer: heavy)

How to use it in class

Use after teaching size and colour adjectives, before pupils write descriptions. Play solo as a whole class for 6-8 minutes. - Write opinion > size > age > colour > noun on the board first - If many miss the old brown table item, point to something real, like an old brown door, and have the class say it together - Finish by having each pupil describe something on their desk with two adjectives Play it linked to a class and the results go into the mark book.

Common sticking points

- In the old brown table item, choosing a brown old table because they don't yet know age comes before colour; drill the order on the board - In The bag is ___., choosing a heavy out of habit; point out no noun follows is, so no a is needed - In the two big cats item, picking big two cats because Thai says แมวตัวใหญ่สองตัว; compare the two word orders side by side
