What children will practise

Practise ordering a sentence with should and one joined by because, ordering a short paragraph about a hobby, and ordering First, Next, Then, Finally, to write about oneself (ต 1.3 ป.5/1).

What's in the worksheet

4 ordering questions - You > should > drink > more water - I stayed home > because > it > was raining - I like reading. > Books teach me new things. > I read every night. > Reading is my favourite hobby. - First > Next > Then > Finally

How to use it in class

Use as a lead-in to writing about a hobby, 4 minutes in pairs. - After item 2, have pupils finish I was happy because ... for themselves - After item 4, have them explain how to do something with First, Next, Then, Finally - Item 3 works as a paragraph model Play it linked to a class and the results go into the mark book.

Common sticking points

- Item 4: swapping Next and Then, which mean nearly the same; say both orders happen in real English but this set uses First, Next, Then, Finally - Item 3: swapping Books teach me new things. and I read every night., as both are details - Item 2: starting with because, having seen Because it was raining, I stayed home.
