Game teaching guide

What children will practise

Practise environment vocabulary (pollution, recycle, rubbish, energy), nature words (forest, ocean, climate, wildlife), the verbs save, protect, waste and pollute, and matching problems to solutions, for reading environment texts (ต 1.1 ป.6/2).

What's in the worksheet

4 matching questions, 4 pairs each - Match pollution to มลพิษ and rubbish to ขยะ - Match water waste to turn off the tap and too much plastic to use cloth bags - Match climate to ภูมิอากาศ and wildlife to wild animals - Match protect to ปกป้อง and waste to ใช้อย่างสิ้นเปลือง

How to use it in class

Use at the start of the environment unit, before the reading, 5 minutes in team mode. - After item 2, each team picks one problem and makes a short English poster - In item 4, waste and save are opposites; make a pair of sentences: Save water. Don't waste water. Play it linked to a class and the results go into the mark book. - Use Thai mode: English mode repeats both sides in some questions, so children can match without reading the meaning

Common sticking points

- Item 3: mixing up climate and ocean if climate is new; pre-teach it - Item 4: swapping pollute and waste, both bad things to do - Item 2: matching air pollution with recycle more, the most familiar green phrase
