Game teaching guide

What children will practise

Practise everyday animal words (cat, elephant, monkey, bird, fish, dog) and use what children know about which animals fly, live in water or are pets, linked to ต 3.1 ป.1/1 on vocabulary from other subjects.

What's in the worksheet

6 questions, multiple choice with 3 options - What is แมว in English (cat) - What is ช้าง in English (elephant) - Which animal can fly (bird) - Which animal lives in water (fish) - Which animal is a pet (dog)

How to use it in class

Use after teaching animal words with picture cards or animal sounds; about 4-5 minutes. - Play as a class on the projector and read every option aloud, as some Grade 1 children cannot yet read them alone - After each question, have children act or make the sound of the answer animal - After Q6, ask where elephants and lions live - Play it linked to the class to record results in the mark book.

Common sticking points

- Q3 and Q4 need reading a Thai question and English answers together; weaker readers will guess, so read them aloud - Q1: cat and cow both start with c, so children looking at the first letter may pick cow - Q5: monkey and rabbit are both two-syllable words and may be swapped
