Game teaching guide

What children will practise

Practise words for face and body parts (eye, ear, nose, mouth, hand, foot, arm, leg), match parts to what they do (see, hear, smell, eat) and how many a person has.

What's in the worksheet

4 matching rounds of 4 pairs each - eye, ear, nose and mouth with their meanings - hand, foot, arm and leg with their meanings - ear with hear, nose with smell - eyes with two, fingers with ten, baby teeth with twenty

How to use it in class

Use after singing Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes; about 4-5 minutes. - Play as a class on the projector and have children point to their own body part for every pair - In round 4, count fingers and eyes together for real, but tell them the number of baby teeth - If round 2 goes badly, separate arm from hand and leg from foot by pointing to each part - Play it linked to the class to record results in the mark book.

Common sticking points

- Round 2: arm/hand and leg/foot get swapped, as everyday Thai often uses one word loosely - Round 4: children do not know how many baby teeth there are, so that pair is matched last - Round 1: ear and eye sound alike at the start and may be swapped
