A look before you play
A few real prompts from the game to help you choose an activity for your class.
"Good morning" is used from waking until midday.
"Good night" is said on parting for the night - it is not a greeting.
"Thank you" - a phrase worth saying every time.
Before you play
Choose the right greeting or polite word for a situation (Good morning, Good night, Thank you, Sorry, Please, Goodbye), following ต 1.2 ป.1/1 on short spoken exchanges.
6 questions, multiple choice with 3 options - Meeting someone in the morning (Good morning) - Before going to bed (Good night) - When someone gives you something (Thank you) - The word that makes a request polite (Please) - Leaving for home (Goodbye)
Use after practising greeting dialogues; about 4-5 minutes. - Play as a class on the projector; after each question pairs say the phrase to each other with an action - If many miss Q2, point out that Good night is for parting at bedtime, not a night-time hello - For Q5, have children ask a friend for a pencil using Please - Play it linked to the class to record results in the mark book.
- Q2: Good night and Good morning are confused because both start with Good - Q4: Thank you may be chosen instead of Sorry by children who still mix up thanking and apologising - Q5: Please and Sorry are confused because both are polite words
