What children will practise

Put words in order to build short subject-verb-complement sentences (I like red apples, The cat is small), order greetings through the day, and order colours as in a rainbow.

What's in the worksheet

4 ordering rounds of 4 cards - I, like, red, apples - The, cat, is, small - Good morning, Good afternoon, Good evening, Good night - Rainbow: red, yellow, green, blue

How to use it in class

Use after practising I like and The ... is sentences; about 4 minutes. - Play in teams and have each team read its sentence aloud - For rounds 1 and 2, point out that the capital I and The show the first word - Show a rainbow before round 4 and mention the game uses only 4 colours, skipping orange - Play it linked to the class to record results in the mark book.

Common sticking points

- Round 1: red and apples swapped (I like apples red), since Thai puts describing words after the noun - Round 2: small may be placed before cat, as in the small cat - Round 3: Good evening and Good night swapped - Round 4: children who know all 7 rainbow colours may be thrown by the missing orange
