Sort into
Words for family and words for jobs.
Before you play
Read 16 words from several topics (animals, food, colours, numbers, family, jobs, days, months) and place each in its topic, practising reading aloud and recalling meaning for indicator ต 1.1 ป.2/2.
4 questions, sorting 4 words into 2 groups each - Animals vs food: dog, bird, rice, bread - Colours vs numbers: green, yellow, seven, twelve - Family vs jobs: mother, brother, doctor, teacher - Days vs months: Monday, Friday, January, March
Suits an end-of-term or pre-test review. Allow 5 minutes and play in four teams; each team reads the words aloud together before dragging. - After each question, ask every team to add one more word of its own to a group, such as cat for animals - If days and months trip many up, sing a quick Days of the Week song and replay - Play it linked to your class so results go into the gradebook
- Days vs months: swapping March and Monday because both start with M. Point out that every day ends in -day - Colours vs numbers: hesitating over twelve, a less familiar number word. Count ten, eleven, twelve together - Family vs jobs: putting brother in the wrong group when unsure of its meaning
