A look before you play
A few real prompts from the game to help you choose an activity for your class.
Each animal lives where it is suited to.
Herbivores and carnivores eat different food.
English has a separate word for the young of many animals.
Before you play
Read animal names and link them to habitats, food, young and abilities, such as camel to desert, panda to bamboo and cow to calf (indicator ต 1.1 ป.3/2).
4 questions, matching 4 pairs each - whale to ocean, camel to desert - panda to bamboo, bee to nectar - dog to puppy, cow to calf, duck to duckling - kangaroo to jump, snake to crawl
Link it to a science lesson on animals and habitats, about 6 minutes, in teams. The team that gets a pair right reads it aloud to the class. - The young-animal question is the hardest; teach kitten, puppy, calf and duckling with pictures first - If bee and nectar trip them up, explain nectar is the sweet juice inside flowers - Play it linked to your class to record scores in the gradebook
- cow and calf (Q3): calf is unknown, so it is matched by elimination; duckling and kitten are easier because of duck and the cat-like sound - bee and nectar (Q2): nectar is new and left until last - bear and forest (Q1): some think bears live in zoos. The game asks about natural homes
