Game teaching guide

What children will practise

Sort land vs water transport, choose Do or Does by subject, tell polite requests (May I come in?) from blunt commands (Come in.), and sort jobs vs places (indicator ต 1.1 ป.3/1).

What's in the worksheet

4 questions, sorting into 2 groups - car, bus on land; boat, ship on water - you like, they play take Do; she like, he play take Does - May I come in?, Can you help? are polite; Come in., Help me. are blunt - driver, pilot are jobs; station, airport are places

How to use it in class

Use at the end of a Do/Does unit, about 5 minutes, in teams. For Q2, teams complete the question aloud: Does she like ...? - For Q3, say Help me! and Can you help me, please? in different tones and ask which is more polite - Explain that Come in. is not wrong; a teacher uses it to invite children in, but it is a command - Play it linked to your class to record scores in the gradebook

Common sticking points

- she like and he play (Q2): children who know she takes -s are puzzled by like without s. Explain that once Does is used, the verb drops the s - Can you help? (Q3): dragged to blunt because there is no please - station (Q4): hesitation over train or bus station; either way it is a place
