Game teaching guide

What children will practise

Read words for feelings and states (happy, angry, thirsty, sleepy), link feelings to situations, and ask and answer How are you? / Are you hungry?, so children can tell others how they feel.

What's in the worksheet

4 questions, matching 4 pairs each - angry to โกรธ, tired to เหนื่อย - thirsty to กระหายน้ำ, sleepy to ง่วง - sad to lost a toy, hungry to did not eat lunch - What is wrong? to I am sick.

How to use it in class

Use as a daily feelings check-in, about 5 minutes, on the projector, then ask a few children How are you today? - During Q1, the class pulls faces for happy, sad and angry - In Q4, two questions can both take Yes, I am.; if a child's match differs from the key, ask why before calling it wrong - Use Thai mode: English mode repeats the same words in Q1 and Q2 - Play it linked to your class so scores go into the gradebook

Common sticking points

- Are you hungry? and Are you happy? (Q4) are easily swapped, since Yes, I am. answers both - thirsty and hungry (Q2) get swapped as both are body needs - tired and sleepy seem alike (tired in Q1, sleepy in Q2); explain being worn out differs from wanting to sleep
