Game teaching guide

What children will practise

Read transport words, link vehicles to where they travel (plane to sky, train to rails), choose the verbs that go with them (ride a bicycle, sail a boat) and read travel words (indicator ต 1.1 ป.3/2).

What's in the worksheet

4 questions, matching 4 pairs each - plane to เครื่องบิน, boat to เรือ - train to rails, car to road - ride to a bicycle, sail to a boat, drive to a car - ticket to ตั๋ว, trip to การเดินทาง

How to use it in class

Use in a travel unit or before a field trip, about 5 minutes, in pairs. For Q3, the pair mimes riding and driving before tapping. - Afterwards, ask How do you come to school? and have them answer By bus. / I ride a bicycle. - For Q4, bring in a real ticket or map if you have one - Play it linked to your class so scores go into the gradebook

Common sticking points

- ride and drive (Q3) get swapped, as Thai ขี่ and ขับ are close. If you sit astride, it is ride - sail (Q3) is new and matched by elimination; teach it after the game - trip (Q4) is unfamiliar and left until last
