What children will practise

Sort verbs from nouns, indoor from outdoor activities, and words by topic (land vs water animals, size vs age words) for use in short exchanges (indicator ต 1.2 ป.3/1).

What's in the worksheet

4 questions, sorting into 2 groups - run, eat are verbs; book, cat are nouns - read, write are done in the classroom; swim, run outdoors - dog, cat are land animals; fish, dolphin are water animals - big, small describe size; old, new say how old

How to use it in class

Use when first introducing word types, about 5 minutes, whole class. For Q1, use a simple rule: if you can act it, it is a verb; if you can point to it, it is a noun. - Q3 and Q4 are not about verbs; tell children they are general topic sorts - For Q4, explain old can mean แก่ or เก่า, and new means ใหม่ - Play it linked to your class so scores go into the gradebook

Common sticking points

- old and new (Q4): dragged to size, not seeing that new describes how old a thing is - dolphin (Q3): some know dolphins are mammals, not fish; they still live in water, so praise the knowledge - run appears in Q1 and Q2; in Q2 children may hesitate since you can run indoors. Remind them of the no-running rule
