Game teaching guide

What children will practise

Sort verbs taking -s from those taking -es (play vs watch, go), actions done alone vs with someone, direction vs position phrases, and indoor vs outdoor sports (indicator ต 1.2 ป.4/1).

What's in the worksheet

4 questions, sorting into 2 groups - read, play add s; watch, go add es - read, sleep can be done alone; talk with, play with need someone else - turn left, go straight give directions; next to, between say where - badminton, table tennis are indoor; football, running are outdoor

How to use it in class

Use as a review before a directions lesson, about 5 minutes, in teams. For Q3, teams act out turning left and going straight. - For Q1, say the -s forms aloud: reads, plays, watches, goes - In Q4, if children argue badminton is played outside too, agree, and say competitions are played indoors - Play it linked to your class so scores go into the gradebook

Common sticking points

- go (Q1) is dragged to add s, as the -es rule children learn is about ch, sh, s and x; go and do are exceptions to memorise - running (Q4): hesitation, as you can run indoors and running is not a game name like football - between (Q3) is new and placed by elimination
