What children will practise

Practise sorting words and sentences into four pairs of groups: countable and uncountable nouns, regular and irregular verbs, present and past sentences, and frequency words versus exact-time words.

What's in the worksheet

4 sorting questions: drag each card into its group - egg and cup are countable; bread and money are uncountable - walk and watch are regular; go and write are irregular - She is happy. versus She was happy. - always and sometimes tell how often; yesterday and last week tell exactly when

How to use it in class

Use as an end-of-unit grammar review for P5, about 6 minutes. In team mode, have each team explain one of its choices. - For the nouns, let pupils say two eggs and two breads and ask which sounds wrong - For the verbs, say the past forms walked, watched, went, wrote together - If money trips many up, explain that coins and notes can be counted, but the word money cannot Play it linked to a class and the results go into the mark book.

Common sticking points

- Putting money with the countables because you can count money in real life; contrast it with coin, which is countable - Putting bread with the countables because Thai says ขนมปังสองแผ่น; show that English needs two slices of bread - Putting write with the regular verbs if they don't know the past form wrote
