Game teaching guide

What children will practise

Practise sorting in four areas: habits versus actions happening now, cheap versus expensive words, adjectives versus -ly adverbs, and countable versus uncountable things found in a shop.

What's in the worksheet

4 sorting questions - I read every night. versus I am reading now. - cheap and on sale are cheap; expensive and luxury are expensive - quick and careful are adjectives; quickly and carefully are adverbs - bottle and bag are countable; water and rice are uncountable

How to use it in class

Use mid-lesson after a shopping dialogue, 5 minutes, solo mode with the answer shown after each question. - For quick and quickly, have pupils walk fast and say I walk quickly, then compare it with a quick walk - For the countables, ask why a bottle of water needs the word bottle - Follow with a shop role play using cheap, expensive and on sale Play it linked to a class and the results go into the mark book.

Common sticking points

- Putting rice with the countables because grains can be counted and Thai says ข้าวสองจาน; point to two bowls of rice - Guessing on luxury because the word is new; pre-teach it - Putting She walks to school. under happening now because it has no time word; look for the missing is and -ing
