What children will practise

Practise passive sentences where the subject is acted on: choose was, were or is to match tense and number, follow it with a past participle such as written, cleaned or broken, and pick out the passive from other sentences.

How to use it in class

Use after first teaching the passive, 5 minutes in solo mode. - Put the pattern on the board: subject + is/was/were + past participle - Pause at item 5: She was eating has was, but it is followed by -ing, so it is not passive - Close by having pupils turn Mum cooked the rice. into the passive Play it linked to a class and the results go into the mark book.
