Game teaching guide

What children will practise

Sort nouns that take in from those that take on (in the box, on the wall), countable from uncountable nouns, verbs from adjectives, and yes/no from wh-questions (indicator ต 1.1 ป.4/3).

What's in the worksheet

4 questions, sorting into 2 groups - the box, the room take in; the table, the wall take on - book, apple are countable; water, rice are uncountable - swim, jump are verbs; beautiful, tall are adjectives - Are you happy? takes yes/no; Why are you happy? needs an explanation

How to use it in class

Use as a pre-test review, about 5 minutes, in teams. Only Q1 is about prepositions; tell children the other three revise other topics. - For Q1, teams say the full phrase (in the room, on the wall) before dragging - For Q2, ask whether rice can be counted; Thai children often think of plates of rice, so explain English treats rice as uncountable - Play it linked to your class so scores go into the gradebook

Common sticking points

- rice (Q2) is dragged to countable, as Thai counts ข้าวสองจาน - the wall (Q1) is dragged to in, because Thai ภาพที่ผนัง does not say on - Why are you happy? (Q4) goes to yes/no because it contains are you like Are you happy?. Look at the first word
