Game teaching guide

What children will practise

Read subject names and places in school, link equipment to subjects (microscope to Science), and match real classroom phrases such as Can you say it again? to their use (indicator ต 1.1 ป.4/2).

What's in the worksheet

4 questions, matching 4 pairs each - Maths to คณิตศาสตร์, Music to ดนตรี - paintbrush to Art, recorder to Music - playground to สนามเด็กเล่น, canteen to โรงอาหาร - I do not understand. to saying you do not understand, Can you say it again? to asking to hear it again

How to use it in class

Use early in the year so the Q4 phrases become everyday classroom language; about 5 minutes, whole class. Then post the four phrases beside the board. - For Q1, open the class timetable and have children read the subject names in English - Use Thai mode: English mode repeats the same word on both sides in Q1 and Q3 - Play it linked to your class so scores go into the gradebook

Common sticking points

- recorder (Q2): children may think of a voice recorder rather than the instrument and match it with Science - microscope (Q2) is hard to read but often right by elimination - I have finished. and I do not understand. (Q4): weaker readers swap them, as both are long
