A look before you play
A few real prompts from the game to help you choose an activity for your class.
The "if" half comes first, then the result.
A relative clause goes straight after the noun it describes.
Open, give the reason, give an example, then conclude.
Before you play
Practise ordering ideas in writing: a conditional sentence, a sentence with a who clause, the parts of an essay (introduction, reason, example, conclusion), and the steps of writing an essay (ต 1.3 ป.6/1).
4 ordering questions - If it rains, > I > will > stay home - The girl > who > sits there > is my friend - Introduction > First reason > Supporting example > Conclusion - Choose the topic > Plan the structure > Write the first draft > Revise it
Use before a short P6 essay, 4 minutes in team mode. - Use items 3 and 4 as the real plan: give out a four-box sheet based on item 3 for pupils to plan before writing - If item 2 goes wrong, show that who sits there describes the girl, so the two stay together Play it linked to a class and the results go into the mark book.
- Item 2: building The girl is my friend who sits there, which is possible English but not accepted here; practise keeping the clause next to its noun - Item 3: swapping first reason and supporting example - Item 4: swapping plan and first draft, as many pupils write without planning
